Scratch dance class. :(
Emerson fell off the slide at the childcare center at the gym this morning. The staff came and got both Eric and I right away when she wouldn't stop crying. After an hour at home, the little girl wouldn't move her left arm and only wanted to lay on the couch or be held by one of us. Anyone who knows Emers, knows that is very unusual. We went to U of M Amplatz Children's Hospital ER and four hours later, left with a brave little girl with a broken humerus. Due to the location of the break, they were not able to cast her arm, only an ACE wrap/ sling. We will follow up with orthopedic surgery next week. She will not need surgery, they just want to keep a close eye on her as the break is close to her growth plate.
Sad baby

Mr. Bear and Zebra helped
Left proximal humerus fracture
ACE wrap, Dora sticker, and a baby bear from Eric, the awesome ER nurse who cared for us
Eric and I survived the first ER visit and broken bone as parents.
In the big scheme of life and parenthood, this was a very minor event. I had no idea though how much it could hurt to watch your child in pain. Throughout my years of practicing pediatric anesthesia, I always felt terrible for the parents with sick kids. My admiration for their strength and courage is greater now more than ever.
