1. I had picked out a super cute monster costume for Emerson to wear for Halloween. Then I asked her. Yep, no monster. Miss Emerson will be a pirate for Halloween. I had no idea 2 year olds could be SO opinionated. I am learning. Stay tuned for adorable pirate photos and video.
2. Emerson has been rocking the potty training thing. Last Wednesday, I woke up and decided it was time. The little girl actually agreed and the hubby went along for the ride! The first few days were pretty gross but she has caught on quick. Minnie Mouse undies, M&M's, and overly excited, borderline obnoxious, cheerleading parents have contributed to our success. Way to go Emers!
3. More on the potty training note...The three of us went out for dinner last night. We hadn't been at the restaurant long when Miss E announced that she needed to "go potty". After a successful trip, she ran back through the restaurant to Eric yelling "Daddy!!! I went potty!!!". Maybe we need to tone down our excitement.
4. It was time for Emerson's annual flu shot. It just so happened that the day before at school, she made a doctor's bag. Think black construction paper in the shape of a medical bag with a Q-tip, Band-Aid, cotton ball, and gauze pad attached. Perfect. We talked about going to the doctor to get her flu shot so she wouldn't get sick, blah, blah, blah. I wasn't sure what to expect.
Miss Emerson marched into the doctor's office, told the receptionist her name was Emerson Meyers and that she was there for a flu shot. She also told the receptionist that she brought her doctor's bag, she is two in March, and she's going to be a pirate for Halloween. Pretty much in one jumbled breath. She squirmed a little when the nurse cleaned off her leg and that was it. No whining, no fusing, no tears. Done. She marched back out to the receptionists to show off her My Little Pony sticker and we were on our way. This little girl makes me smile.
